Bader bin Hussain Al-Zahrani has been appointed CEO of the Nomow Cultural Fund, following a directive issued by Culture Minister Prince Badr bin Abdullah.
The recently launched fund is an initiative to help professionals in various cultural sectors and creative fields, including writing, publishing, filmmaking and visual content.
The Culture Ministry studied the Kingdom’s cultural scene to assess the reasons for the low quality and quantity of output.
The study showed that one reason is the lack of funding mechanisms to support production and ensure the continuation of a project’s creative flow. The fund aims to support national talent in their creative pursuits.
Al-Zahrani has played a key role in developing a regulatory framework for the creative sector in the Kingdom.
Prior to his current appointment, he served as CEO of the General Commission of Audiovisual Media, where he contributed to developing the operating model for cinemas in Saudi Arabia. He restructured the commission’s internal procedures and operational structure.
Al-Zahrani directly supervised the formulation of bylaws governing the audiovisual media system in the Kingdom.
He is a co-founder of the Saudi Aramco Entrepreneurship Center (Wa’ed). He chaired its project-development department, and contributed directly to supporting more than 150 startups.
Al-Zahrani holds a degree in geophysics from the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, and an MBA from the University of London.
